  2. Just got back online after being without access for a few days. I am still in New England and it appears there is another big storm headed this way so I might be here until early next week. Spent 4 days with my daughter and now I am relaxing on Cape Cod. Hope you are all having a great start to the New Year. Hugs to you all.

  3. BRRRRRR>..... Jack Frost is nipping at my arse... turned ReAlLy cold here just about overnight.

So my hubbie comes to bed last night ( i had gone up early to read a book)... slumps down and asks "why would aunt J say all those things to me?"
it froze my heart... he's now in a bigger blue spot than ever and i invited this aunt to come and have dinner with us to cheer him up...

    mean people suck.

Honesty and bluntness are one thing... but not at the expense of the mourning. No good comes from telling people they "broke the hearts" of their dearly departed...

I am so close to dialing her digits... but I atleast, know that no good can come from it.

anywho... off to finish painting the trim work in the foyer... which got it's 4th color change yesterday... i think i may finally be happy with it...

Hiya SS... Keli, happy to have you in N.E... enjoy the Cape!

    *muah * to all...

  4. It is really sad Stripey...if you could call her without causing a battle and tell her the pain her comments caused, maybe she could say something that would smooth it over...although, given the unsolicited comments and manner in which they were delivered...it may be best to leave it alone...ugh! Stripey...I have still not done anything to my bedroom and your are on your 4th color change...move to MI...would ya?

Keli- at least you are snowed in with the babes instead of trying to get to them...enjoy the snuggles:)

  5. SS... it came out sooooo purtey... A blue i chose from Farrel and Ball... which i am currently having an affair with... I am not so secretly wishing for a color fan deck from them. Maybe mama's day.

Am i the only one that is getting a severe case of the "blah's"?? The winter is setting in and so is the blues... *shudder* gotta get oughtta this funk, quickly!

  6. Hey girls...big prayers needed for Jeanette right now. Sorry I've been slow again. Going from 3 kids to 4 teenagers & a nine year old has been hard on this momma. Inbox me if you need to. I'll try to schedule a few posts later.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh no!! I am sorry to hear she is in need of prayers...sending them her way, give her my love!

  8. After getting the ok from Jeanette, I wanted to let everyone know that her grandfather passed away yesterday. She wanted you all to know that she deeply appreciates all of your thoughts & prayers over the past year. He went peacefully at home & will be laid to rest this Wednesday. Please keep her & her family in your prayers while they go through this hard time.

  9. Shana- :( I am so sorry for Jeanette and her family. I know how much she loves him and I am sad that she has to say goodbye...please convey my love and sympathy for her families tremendous loss!

  10. Shana, I just arrived home after being gone since 12/29. I wanted you to let Jeanette know she is in my thoughts. I know how close she is to her grandparents and my heart goes out to her in this time of loss.

I hope everyone else is doing well. I had a good trip. Spent 4 days with the grands, then 3 days at the Cape and then 4 more days with the grands. I got lots of loving with those little ones.

Now I am going to put my feet up and relax after a 12.5 hour drive. Roads were good, but the south is expecting a snow/freezing rain/ice storm over the next 24 hours, so glad I made it home today.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Keli- glad you are home safe and that you had a great visit with the babies:) Take some much needed rest...and enjoy the quiet...enjoy it for me too-k-? There isn't much of that around here;)

  12. Mother Nature is not being very kind to any of us this year. We now have ice everywhere and I will not be leaving my house any time soon. Guess this is my opportunity to clean house and unpack my suitcase! I hope all of you are warm and safe. There is a blizzard hitting New England so I am glad I made it home on Sunday.

Suz- Big hugs, big, big hugs!!! :(

We have a snow day here...and I scheduled my car for an oil change thinking I would only have one munchkin...this should be fun...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey Gang,
Hope all is well. Thanks for the love regarding my Pete. I did not really want to put it here with people having bigger problems. But I appreciate it ♥
Jeanette, My thoughts are with you today.

Be safe all you in the crazy bad weather. We are supposed to be in the 60's today..don't hate. :p

    ReplyDelete
  16. Suz...no you didn't!!! Stinker! We could have lived in oblivion that somewhere people are actually warm:P...hope the sunshine is helping, I can only imagine how much your are missing Pete:(

J- you are in my thoughts as well..sending love your way!

Stripey- dig out and stop in to say hi:)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jeanette, thinking of you! I'm so sorry.

Suz, Hugs to you! I'm sorry!

What I would do for 60 degree weather. It might involve pasties...just saying.

  18. Helloooo Sandy....you and me both! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sandy! Ha!! Too Funny! I am just glad to see the sun for awhile. We went from rain to fog and about 3 weeks straight without seeing the sun. That wears on ya.
Sandy how are your critters aka kids doing :) Hope you had a nice Christmas and new years.

SS, your kids on the mend? I think they had been ill'n.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Good memory Suz...Oddly enough, Chloe is the only one who got the flu. I kept waiting for someone else to start with the vomiting, but it never happened...I actually dodged a bullet!

    ReplyDelete
  21. We survived Christmas and New Years. We all had the norovirus at Thanksgiving though. That was not fun let me tell you.

The kids are doing well. C is doing awesome in school and at home. She got her ear re-pierced in November and is having fun wearing different earrings.

B is an old man in a little boy I tell ya. He's my old soul.

We had a period here where there was no sun for a few weeks too. Not fun.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey there ladies. Where is everyone. I am finally starting to thaw out, and the ice is mostly melted, so driving is once again possible on all of our roads.

Suz, I was so sorry to hear about your loss. It is never easy.

All you other ladies, I hope you are warm and cozy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. *dig... dig... dig...*
    just about one boot out...

What fun 22 inches is.... and i mean that sarcastically in EVERY manor of speaking.... ((as in "u ain't getting near ME with 22 inches!!))

We are now topping 10 degrees, which i know our deep north neighbors would enjoy warming up to 10 degrees... but dang cold in an old house... especially when the wood pile is maybe 'that mound'... or maybe that mound over there...

Sandy glad C is doing well... thought alot about you and your princess. I have two monkeys with 'old souls'... and just adore it!!

I have been addicted to Etsy lately searching for vinyl words to add to my home. My daughter picked out a princess cameo and "our little princess" to go above her bed. But there are some true sould jerkers for quotes... lot's of trouble deciding.

Time to go put the little ones to bed and clink some glasses. HAPPEY HAPPEY WEEKEND TO YOU< TO YOU< TO YOU!

  24. I.love.bulk.shopping...

    I.hate.putting.away.bulk.shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  25. SC, yes bulk shopping can be a problem when you get it home. I never could find enough space to put it away for the first month (until we used some of it). Sure saves money, so it is worth it.

I hope you are getting dug out of all that snow. We actually had mid-40s today, and expect at least 50 tomorrow. Still in the teens and 20s at night, but it is getting better for the time being.

Just got back from dinner at Olive Garden with my DIL and 2 grands. I feel like a tick! Need to walk up/down the stairs about 50 times after all the food I ate. Yummy!

Well off to work on my taxes, I hate this time of year...lol!

  27. Stripey...hope you found enough energy to get through the day.

I had a play date today at my house with my friend and her two little girls...they wore themselves out and I got to have adult conversation...I am one happy mama!

    ReplyDelete
  28. SC, I hope you survived today. I love late night movie with a friend, but back when my children were young, I used to suffer too!

SS, adult conversation...I used to crave that when my children were young. Glad you had a great day.

I have to have a bone density scan tomorrow. I hate those things, but at least it will let me know if my bones are in jeopardy of breaking. I hope not...lol! Bragging...I managed to bring my cholesterol down 49 points, I am so proud of myself. It is now in the high normal range, which means I DO NOT have to take any of those nasty drugs to lower it. I will keep working on getting it down to the low normal range, I think I can do it.

Well, I better go fix some dinner. Long day at my part-time job, so I am exhausted.

    Hugs to you all.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow! Keli that is fabulous! 49 points is great! How did you do it?? Mine is high normal, and I have been trying to bring it down and lose a few pounds as high colesterol and diabetes run in my family. I have been eating steel cut oats and trying to limit any fried or processed foods...but I am always up for pointers. Way to go!!

Hey Shana- Hope all is well, miss your sweet face, please send some love to Jeanette for me, Hope she is doing ok!

    ReplyDelete
  30. SS, my success with the cholesterol was due to multiple things. I started taking 2400 mg of fish oil each day. I eat a handful of raw almonds every day. I try to never eat anything that has hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil in it. I eat lots of whole grain products, leafy greens, avocados, cranberries, and best of all dark chocolate. And while I was at it I cut out all food with high fructose corn syrup. It took me six months to get those 49 points shaved off, but I am truly a believer that diet and exercise are the key to my success. I also eat steel cut oats (I love them). I am a diabetic, so changing my diet also brought my blood sugar down to the lowest it has been in 5 years. FYI...I do cheat once in awhile, but try not to get off track. Thanks for asking, I love sharing what works for me, in hope that it might help others too!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks for the tips Keli! It sounds like you have put a lot of thought into your plan...I am going to try to implement a few of those and see if it will help me out. Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  32. SS, I am glad you found a few of them that appeal to you. Let me know how it goes. I am nagging my sons into also doing a few of them. I am hoping I can get them interested enough to do it on their own. Yeah, that's going to happen....rofl.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hello Ladies.

I wanted to thank all of you for the kind comments on this post, and the emails some of you have sent.

I have been dreading this time since I was old enough to understand death. Now that it has happened, I'm lost. I have spent the last 4 years caring for my gpa and now I don't know what to do with myself. I am home now, and have my gram here with me, so that helps. Knowing that she needs me keeps me from going crazy. I guess I'm still in shock. I just can't get my brain to accept that gpa is never coming back. At times I feel like he is just in the hospital or something and then reality hits me in the stomach. I suppose over time things will sink in but for now, that's how I feel.

I miss participating here on a regular basis, but please know that I'm reading and keeping up with you all. I let my internet go a few months ago to save for Christmas and then didn't turn it back on after the holidays because I wasn't staying here much anyway. Now, I'm pretty busy helping my gram get an income going and catching up on things I had been neglecting for awhile in my own life (my grandpa needed me more). When things slow down, I will be back.

Shana is usually in touch with me, and she has been such a comfort during all this. Yall are such great women and I'm glad to know all of you, I just wanted you to know that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jeanette, It is nice to read that you are doing okay? I am sorry that you lost your beloved Gpa. Your Gma must find it a comfort to have you with her, she has to be lost as well. I hope you get all of the income issues straightened out quickly.

I hope the girls are doing well, they must be growing like weeds and keeping you busy. Are you still in school? I am not sure how you handle it all, but bless you for being who you are.

Take care, and post when you can and let us all know how you are doing, we miss you!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jeanette- Thanks for stopping in and letting us know you are hanging in there...that is really all you can do. Know that you have many friends thinking of you and sending love. Keep your chin up girlie and I hope the sun will shine for you!!!

  36. Shana could use some prayers/good thoughts. That's all I can say for now, I'll update more when I have her permission. In the meantime, please keep her and her family in your prayers, I know firsthand that it will mean alot to her.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Always good thoughts for Shana!! I will send her some prayers too!! Hoping all will be well!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jeanette, I will keep positive and kind thoughts for Shana and her family. I hope everything is going to be okay.

This crazy weather is getting ready to dump more snow on us, so I am trying to get mentally prepared. I am soooo ready for spring.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Where is everyone? I am cold and bored, come out, come out, wherever you are! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hey Keli...sorry about the cold and bored:( I am tired and cold...but enough complaining from me...I hope you are having a good day, I know you easterners are digging out yet again, stay warm!! Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I just want to know where the heck everyone is hiding. SS, Jeanette and I have been the only posters in days.

SS, yes the east coast was hit with another *BIG* snowstorm. There was about 19 inches in Connecticut (where SC lives) and 12 inches in Boston. I am currently hiding the in the south and it missed us this time around. I am planning to return to Boston the end of February, if the weather improves.

Shana, if you check in, please let us know that your are ok.

    Suz, where are you?

Missie, Sandy, etc, etc. You ladies need to check in and let us know you are all safe and well.

Okay, I am talking to myself (at my age they worry about that), so I am off to eat roasted chicken and salad. Have a happy evening.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Keli- You are too funny...no cause for concern talking to yourself it is only in answering back...crap, I do that;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sorry I haven't come on sooner to update girls. I had a few appts. and I'm planning a birthday party for my 4 year old princess.

Shana's dad was having some health issues and it was looking scary. As far as I know, he is now on the mend and things are looking up. I know Shana appreciates the prayers. She has a lot going on but will be by to post soon I'm sure.

    Everyone try to stay warm!

    ReplyDelete
  44. You rang Keli, lol!

We are all good here. Getting over some nasty colds.

I am *so done with winter.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jeanette, glad to hear things are looking up...it is always scary when a loved one is ill...hugs and prayers still coming!

Sandy- You hit the nail on the head for me...winter...BLECH! I am done too!

Stripey...where are you?? I am gonna have to chase you down if you don't poke your snow-covered face out...

    ReplyDelete
  46. I.AM.OVER.WINTER....

This morning i crashed my hubbie's beloved Mercedes.

i am sick just typing that.

We are all ok... but very shaken. I can't get the feeling and images out of my head of the impact.

all because i couldn't see past the snowbank left by plow trucks at my driveway.

A little further out of my drive and my babies would have been hit ... not me... That is the horrific image i have in my mind today...

hating winter. with every pure hate fiber in my being right now...

and smiling bastard's say more snow for Wednesday... i think im gonna go wild turkey balls on them soon...

    hugs to all...
off to hug my children more...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Friday Greetings friends!
Hope everyone is well. I have been...no excuse, just blah.
Keli! Hi there, hope you are staying warm.
Jeanette, been thinking about you, take life a day at a time. hugs ♥
Shana, hope you will be back among us soon too.
Keri, glad you are alright. The car? Is just a car, the beloved things? You and your babes.Be good to yourself, let those bad images go. Oh, and go have rather tall and strong Svedka ♥
SS, how are you and your girlies?
Sandy, I love your profile pict. makes me smile :)
    ok..back to work

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hiya Suz!! So happy to see your little face (well you know what I mean) here! Hugs! BTW, we are well, thanks for asking!

*Passing a tall Svedka made with loving hands to my friend Stripey...Oh girl...it sucks having the shit scared out of us! I am so sorry about your accident (and the definition of an accident is an unintentional act)but so very glad that you all are ok. Forgive yourself and like Suz said, a car is just a car...your lives are far more important. Many hugs mama!

    ReplyDelete
  49. SC, I am so thankful that only the car was hurt! It is so dangerous on the roads right now.

Like all of you, I am so done with winter. We had some 40 degree weather today, and it felt like living in the banana belt...lol! If that jet stream does not move we will continue to get storms every 4-5 days with the NE getting more and more and more snow! I think they have run out of places to put it, not sure what they will do during the next storm.

So glad it is Friday. 2 of the grands are coming over for dinner and a sleepover, so think we will make cupcakes and watch Netflix movies. I plan to sleep in tomorrow, and if I keep them up late, they will sleep in too (such an evil grandmother).

I hope you all have a good week-end. Jeanette, is your little having her Bday party this week-end? If so, have a great time. I hope Shana is doing okay, sorry to hear her pops is ill.

    Later......

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey is me again. I seem to talk to myself a lot lately, but then when I answer I get the answer I want and there is not argument...Bahwawawa!!

So my life normally clicks along without much drama or stress (except the stress of not having any money, but I have gotten used to that). So a few days ago my oldest son advised me that he and his wife of 25 years are separating and will most likely get a divorce. I have to say I was not totally surprised as I have for years wondered how he dealt with her. I do not dislike the woman, I just feel kind of sorry for her. She is religious to a point of being delusional. Here's where the stress comes in.....he called this morning and asked if he could live with me for a short time...eek! Of course I said yes..after all I have a 3 bedroom house and a huge spare room over the garage. I know it will be okay, but I have lived alone since my youngest son moved into his own apartment 14 years ago.

So if I act kind of batty (well more than usual), you will know I am on medication...rofl. Oh, and I cannot blog about this because to many friends/family read my blog and I don't want to listen to them. I love constructive advice, but I hate people who butt into something they know nothing about. I am old and grouchy! Maybe it is time for me to start wearing a 'red hat'.

Hope you are all staying warm and enjoying your week-end.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank you to all... it's getting better... Due in part to a friend saying "Rose was watching out for you"... and a calming feeling came over me.

Keli... eeks, eeks, and more eeks. my advice... make sure to discuss the good, bad, and truly ugly BEFORE your son steps foot back home. It will and should be a tough difficult conversation... but I found through personal pain, that if that conversation doesn't happen... than people get hurt in the end.
Talk about everything from who buys the food to who takes out the trash and back to where the toidy seat goes... trust me it will help in the long run for both of you.

now dammit... hand over a cupcake and nobody will get hurt!

**stomping back to chair with hefty svedka in hand**

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am here there and well who knows where lol
We have a lawyer now and while we are moving to a new place we dont know what happens after that

    ReplyDelete
  53. Keli-Yikes! I am sure all will be well in the end, but remember it is your house...and no one tramples on Mama in her own house...I agree with SC...lay it all out there.

Missie- I am so happy to see you post. I have thought about you and visited your blog...though not recently, I hope you get it all ironed out and that your health does not suffer in the process..hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  54. No worries ladies, my son (and his other siblings) were raised by a single working mother, so they know what is expected of them. He is already doing things around the house without being asked, and this morning he gave me money to buy groceries. He has always been a neat freak about his stuff, so there will be no picking up after him. I am kind of enjoying having another adult here to talk to in the evenings, and I am glad to have someone to cook with. Since we are both diabetics we have the same eating habits, and that eliminates any problems with food. He has always been very much a part of my life, and I am so thankful for that. I am sad that he is going through this rough patch in his life, but I am confident he will come out the other side without battle scars.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week-end. Believe it or not, it is 68 degrees here today, but the cold will be back. I am off to take a walk.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ok, so my new comment got eaten:(

Keli-I am glad that you and your son have such a good relationship and as someone who lived alone for a long time, I hope it will be peaceful having someone around. I do know...(I am sure you do also) that it is easier to cook for two than one...I hate leftovers:( Enjoy the warmth and company.

We are bracing for a dumping of snow headed our way in MI...it is already piled up around here and as much as I HATE winter, I pray that the snow bypasses Stripey in the NE...hang in there girlie, if I could, I would take one for the team:)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hiya gang,
hope everyone is having a good Monday. All you weather challenged lovelies.. be safe :)
We had rain yesterday but we are not having anywhere near the troubles most you all are having.
So I feel sort of offended by something I found out today. A friend I have known since I was born was in my surrounding area this last week and in my town yesterday. I have not seen her since early 90's, never met her kids or hubs. She did not call me or try to contact me to see me. If I went to a town that a long time friend lived in, no way I would not try and see them. Kind of has me scratching my head. Do I call her on it or not?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Awww...Suz...that is a bummer for sure. I guess the question would be what her purpose in town was...maybe it was for work or a funeral (giving the benefit of the doubt here) and a visit wasn't possible...then again she could just be a cruddy friend and you found out a little late:( I am sorry! Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  58. SS, She lives in Arkansas. She and her hubs are takings 6 months off to travel with their kids to visit friends and family. They both were laid off their jobs so they figured, why not?
So it was a social visit to friends of her husband I guess. We grew up together but have not seen each other for many years. I guess time just goes by and that is that.
How are you? Are you battening down the hatches for the dreaded snow??
Hang in there only 4 more months of winter for you in in MI..lol..just kidding!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Suz, sorry about your friend. It does seem a little odd that she would not at least call to meet you for lunch or dinner.

It is cold here again, but I think we are only going to get rain...keeping fingers crossed. My poor daughter will be getting major snow again, they just had 12 inches 5 days ago. They are now 25 inches above their annual snowfall of 40 inches. I think she is getting cabin fever and her 18 month old has croup. Luckily her husband is on vacation this week, so she will have help with the little ones.

I hope you all had a good week-end. I have been googling pictures of flowers because I need to see spring! So pathetic. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Suz-Yep...that was a cruddy thing to do. I also would try to reconnect with old friends unless we parted on bad terms:(

We are OK. The girls are sick ( a cold, I hope) but Isabelle's cough sounds a little yucky, so now I have to make the decision of whether to take her to the Dr. before this snow storm hits...hmmmmm. No kidding about 4 months of winter left, I hate this crap! Of course you all already know that as I have been bitching about it for months:( It could be worse...I could be in NE where poor Stripey has been hammered for weeks...and not on Svedka;)

Keli- hope your little grand feels better soon...the croup is exactly what I am worried about, Isabelle gets that once or twice a year:(

Stay safe all my home bound friends...Shana, hoping all is well!

    ReplyDelete
  61. SS, haha "hammered for weeks but not on Svedka" That is too funny!!
I told the hubs I was kind of bothered by the friend thing. His comment was, time passes, people change. It's true. I just hold on to things/people well after the expiration date.:)
Stripey, hope you are doing ok with all this weather.
Keli, I hope you only get rain, no ice or snow. I would think the ice would be worse.
SS, hang in there girl, Google pictures of spring and flowers like Keli! lol!
Shout out to Shana and Jeanette, hope you girls are fairing ok.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow that darn storm is really making it miserable for lots of people. We have been lucky to not be in the main path this time. I hope SC is doing okay. I just heard that Boston schools are closed tomorrow, which means New England must be getting hit pretty hard. Have not heard from my daughter yet this evening with an update.

SS, I hope your little one is feeling better and you are hold up out of the weather.

Suz, I hold on to people from my past also. If I was friends with them once, I just assume we will always be friends. Guess not everyone thinks that way.

Shana and Jeanette, peek out of where you are hiding and let us know you are okay. We miss you.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Howdy Ladies.. The ground hog said no more winter spring is around the corner!! How about you all pop your heads up and let us know how you survived the latest winter blast. Or cuss me out when I tell you is 55 here and the sun it out!(she ducks so not to get hit by a Svedka bottle)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I made triple chocolate cupcakes with chocolate cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with mini vanilla chocolate chips. If I can't go anywhere, I may as well be fat and sassy. Hubby just got done clearing the driveway with the help of the neighbors snowblower...we still have lake effect snow going on here...and more coming this weekend. As I wrote on SC blog...if spring comes early, won't it be fun dealing with the flooding of all this snow melting??

Suz- I love ya...but suck it;) hahaha

  65. SS, Yummmm! Your desert sounds so good. Ick on the lake effect snow. How much did you get out of this last blast? I know, too much!
Hope everyone is safe and warm tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Suz- I honestly don't know...by Metro Airport they said 9 inches...we are an hour or more north and on the water, so I think at least 10 and then lake effect adding an inch or two more. I am just a little tired of the cold...

    ReplyDelete
  67. Aw sweet friend! I am sorry! I have family in Erie. Pa and they are always talking about what a drag the lake effect snow is.. Hang in there :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. What the heck is going on with this weather. Yesterday we had 60s, today 30s. My body is not adjusting to these daily changes very well. So thankful I do not live in Chicago....what a mess they have.

Hope all you ladies are safe and warm and that all your kiddos are well. I think my little grandson has recovered from the croup.

I have been working 20-25 hrs a week at my part-time job, and cleaning houses on the other days, so I am keeping busy and making money.

Well, I am off to fix dinner (I do that more now that my son is living with me). He seems to be adjusting to life away from his wife, but I still worry about him. He is so quiet about everything, so I never really know how he is doing.

    Hugs to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Good morning friends! The girls are on the mend and Isabelle is going back to school today. I get to got to a wine tasting and chocolate pairing tomorrow night...whoo-hoo...mama-time!

Keli- I don't know what would be worse...the deep freeze or the constant fluctuation in temperature?? Glad you have a dinner pal...hope your son is benefitting from the company also:)

Suz...final snow total was 14 inches... 3-4 foot drifts. We are all shoveled and plowed and snowblowed and back to "normal"...whatever that means:)

SC...where are you?? Everytime they talk about a roof collapsing in Conn. I think of you...be safe. Hope all is well!

Shana, Jeanette, Missie, Sandy, Lindsey and all you other peeps...hope you are well...miss you gals!

    ReplyDelete
  70. SS, wow, that is a lot of snow. Hope that is the end for you :) Have a fun night with the wine and chocolate tasting ,that sound fun!!
SC, hope you pop your lil head out and let us know you are doing ok.
Keli, must be kind of nice to have some company again. Sorry under these circumstances though. Hopefully their parting will be amicable.

hope everyone else is doing well and will check in when you can

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hey all. We dug ourselves out of almost 20 inches of snow and 6-8 foot drifts. Fun Times.

    Hope all is well.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sandy, glad to know you got dug out. My daughter called from New England this morning and said they have many feet of snow in their yard (some fell and some is from clearing where they need to walk and park). She said her husband dug a snow tunnel, what a nut! They are expecting more snow tomorrow, and she is not happy about it, go figure, they have had 25 inches more than their normal snowfall and it is only the first week of Feb.

Ladies, hope you are all enjoying your week-end. It rained here most of the day, but I will take that over snow anytime.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hey ladies, am I talking to myself again? I hope everyone is having a good week. The sun is out here today, but they are predicting a possible snow storm tomorrow night.

The fact that my son is living with me has renewed my interest in gourmet cooking. I have been busy making good/healthy things to eat. Today I am making Brie Stuffed Chicken Breasts with barley pilaf (which has baby bella mushrooms) and fresh broccoli. It is kind of fun to be in the kitchen again.

Well, I better get busy because I am also making Quiche to put in the freezer for another day.

Come out of hiding and let me know how you are all doing. Shana, where the heck are you? Jeanette if you read this, please let us know that Shana is okay.

    Later......

    ReplyDelete
  74. Keli~ Yummy!! Got an extra bedroom?? haha I love cooking and my husband is a pretty appreciative eater:) I am making Chicken Piccata tonight...here's to hoping the kids will at least taste it!

We also have some sunshine right now...but darn is it cold. Single digits for a few days and snow sometime during this week...ugh!

I second Keli- Check in friends and let us know how you are all doing...Shana, thinking about you..hugs!

  75. ((stomp stomp STOMP))

  76. *snort...so um, Stripey...does this mean you are OK?? haha

    ReplyDelete
  77. Oh my gosh! So much to catch up on!

Yikes! SC! I'm *sure Rose was watching over you and the kidlets! I'm so glad you are okay!

Suuuuuz! I'm sorry your friend hurt you like that. I laughed over keeping things past the expiration date!

Keli - Oh my gosh! I hope things are going well with your son living with you! And I'd move in for Brie Stuffed Chicken :) You'd better be careful or he might stay!

SS - glad you made it through the Snowpocalypse! And that the girls are all healthy again!

Things are umm. Pretty good here. Having hubby home *still really puts a damper on my computer time ;) I can't leave to go to the bathroom without him wondering where I'm going. Sigh.

J & Shana - Hope you girls are hanging in there!

I must go get the kids ready for school! I'll check in later today and see what's up!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hiya Lindsay!! It is so nice to see you popping in..sorry hubs is still laid off. That sucks! You need a cardboard sign to hang up when you want alone time...out to lunch, got gas...leave me alone:) Men can be so well meaning and a challenge all at the same time.

We made it through the snow...and then got more and made it through that and now we are in the deep freeze till this weekend when we are looking at 40 degrees...WELCOME to MICHIGAN...haha

    Don't be a stranger...k?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Sup ladies!!
    hope all are doing well.
SC, so sorry about the winter blahs, blues and too much snow. Hope it ends soon! Although, I think ya been crafty!
SS,burrrrrr not a fan of a deep freeze, hang in there too :)
Keli, yummo on the brie stuffed chicken, If I had brie I think I would figure out how to make that for din-din.
Lindsay! Thanks for popping in here. You are missed here ♥
    Happy Hump Day all!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Wow, Lindsay checked in, it is so good to hear from you. Sorry the hubs is still without employment, hopefully that will change real soon.

I am sitting here waiting for the snow to hit. I am hoping they are wrong...rofl!

The Brie Stuffed Chicken was fantabulous (is that a word, well now it is). I will post the recipe on my blog. It was super easy to make, and my son (and I) loved it. I made barley pilaf (with onions, mushrooms and white wine) which was also a hit.

I also made 3 quiches. Froze one, had part of one for dinner tonight and gave the other one to my youngest son. My 6'2 and 6'1 sons are real men and they both love quiche..lol!

Well, time for me to balance the darn checkbook and get to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Great idea on the sign SS!! I wonder if that's too subtle, though. Perhaps neon would be appropriate!

Thanks Keli for posting the recipe! I just saw it my reader. I took it as a hint that you don't want me to move in, too :)

Miss you all, too! At the risk of being kicked in the teeth, I just thought you all should know it's sunny here today! Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Man... i gotta do a road trip... first to Lindsay's for SUN ! than to Keli's for that damn good sounding chicken! Suz's for a cocktail and chat! and of course i shoud've stopped at SS's to pick her up first to get her outta the snow...
A big ole bus with chickens and turkeys painted on the side...

Finally the smiling bastards say 40's for the weekend. Gonna bust out the bikini i swear!

my mood is improving... no longer want to pull the wings off flys (not that i damn would...) but ya ever get in a really really bad evil pms mood... where even the sound of your own voice irritates you?
than add a foot of snow and no car... makes for an unhappy Stripey for SURE.
But the sun's out (even if it's 20 degrees IN the sun) it's still shining. and i can finally see the blacktop of my driveway through the 4" of ice.
Hubby's car is getting fixed! yeah! only 9 grande in damages... oh ya... when i wreck... i wreck em good. Thank god for insurance i say today.
    Hope everyone's well...
    *muah*

    ReplyDelete
  83. I was gonna say...if you are road trippin, you better pick my butt up...especially if we are going somewhere warmer. Hugs my friend, I feel your pain, although a little less. As for ugly moods, I hear ya...I am feeling a little cooped lately and my car is not incapacitated. BTW, my brother-in-law is working in Stratford Conneticut for a few weeks...he was bummed as they sent him over Valentine's and my sister's birthday:(

Thanks for posting the yummy looking recipe Keli.

Suz- How the heck are you??

    ReplyDelete
  84. Happy Monday and Valentines day all. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I went to the mountains to hang out with a friend, it was a nice change of pace for me.
Thinking of all my fellowship friends today and trusting you all are well.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Happy Valentine's peeps! Hope the sun is shining wherever you are!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Happy V-Day to everyone. I am rejoicing because it is 68 degrees today and the sun is shining. It gives me hope that Spring is not to far off. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

All my grands have been sick in the past 10 days. It started with the 3 month old getting the croup, then the 19 month old got a stomach virus (they have both recovered), then on Saturday the 12 yo got Strep! She is better today just in time for the soon to be 8 yo (his bday is the 21st) to test positive for the flu!
I am hoping this will be the end of it! Their poor parents. Gramma stays away when they are sick...lol!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Keli- Hope the babies are all on the mend. Lot's of sickness going around these days:(

Where is everyone?? Hope you are all enjoying some sunshine today...I know I am:)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well it has been 3 days since anyone posted here. Where the heck is everyone? I am enjoying the warmer weather, before it turns cold again, which I am sure it will. I hope everyone is out with your families enjoying the week-end. I saw that the west coast has some storms, so those of you out there, stay dry and warm.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Just thought you would like to know that my state is on fire. In spite of all the snow we got this winter we are in a severe drought and with the last few days of warm weather and lots of wind, we have had lots of fires. In one county 1600 acres have burned. The county I live in has had several small fires. This is pretty scary as there is no rain in sight, and the wind will continue for several days. We are under what they call a 'red flag' warning.

Send rain quick! Or at least send some fire fighters....lol!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oh no!! Keli, I am sorry to hear about the fires! That is so scary! I am sorry I have been absent. My sister-in-law through me an early 40th birthday party on Saturday and I was a little under the weather. Hangover's are so much tougher now that I am not 20 anymore....that and the fact that I rarely get to drink more than a glass with having littles at home. I hope everyone is doing well, I send many hugs!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ha! Poor SS! Hangovers *are rough now that we are old, aren't they? Hope it was a great time and Happy Birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hey all, Happy Wednesday!
Today is my Monday, I had Monday and Tuesday off. Hung out with the hubs and did some stuff around the house, it was nice. I can't check here from home either.
Keli, sorry about your state burning up. Scary to think even after all the snow, it is not enough to change the over all drought picture.. California in a nutshell too. But we are way about normal rain this year. Good for us.
SS, happy early/late birthday. Hope you are mended after your hangover.yikes I hate those :)
Linds, hope all is well with your gang.
Shout out to all the other lovelies here and there. ♥

    ReplyDelete
  93. Thank you Lindsay and Suz! The day is officially today...and I must say, 40 isn't so bad:)

Hope all you peeps are doing well, miss you gals!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Aw SS, have a happy birthday young lady! 40's is not bad if I do say so. I will be 44 shortly :)
Hope you have had a super day, treated with love and special things.
You are special to me here because you always have something kind and uplifting to say to everyone. Glad I *met you here..It is a shame it is mostly deserted these days.. But Happy Birthday Soshayna♪♪♪♪♪

    ReplyDelete
  95. Awwww! Suz! You are a sweet pea! I am glad I *met you here too!! Wish our friends would come out and play more often:(
I think the 40's will be great...my mom always said that you start not caring what people think of you in your 30's, by your 40's, you really don't give a s#@t and by 50...you tell them how it is:) It always made me laugh...she is in her 60's now, so I guess we should WATCH OUT!! Thank you for your very kind words...I love my fellowship friends!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. SS, I hope you had a wonderful Bday (today). Yes, 40 is not so bad, and then I was 50 and it was even better and how I am really old (will be 66 in March) and I don't give a crap what anyone thinks. I just live life to the fullest and have to admit that old age does have it perks! Enjoy today, tomorrow will take care of itself!

I miss all you girls, I found that talking to this circle of ladies gave me laughter, friendship and some place to bitch if I needed to. I am hoping you will all come out of hiding and keep the friendship going.

BTW, I am in the process of starting a new business. Met with the landlord of the property I hope to rent and we are working on a plan for rent, etc. It is actually two businesses that I will have on the same property. The property is located on US1 and the latest survey shows that 75,000 cars a day pass that way. I have to get my LLC all set up and will try to get the Small Business Assocation to loan me to money for start-up so that I do not have to use my own money. I will tell you all more later as things really get moving. A new chapter in my life. I am excited.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Happy Birthday SS!!

Keli, I am so excited for you!

    otherwise i got nothing, ha!

    Talk to you all soon.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thanks Keli! I sure would not say that you are old...I have always preferred "refined"! Congrats on your new business venture, it sounds like it will be very exciting! I can't wait to hear more about it...good luck with the plans!

Hiya Sandy! Thank you...how is the family?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Keli,
how exciting for you to be starting a new business. I wish you much success! I miss this group too. I just kind of feel like everyone has left it including the admins. No disrespect intended, I know they are reading and I know their lives are busy. Just wish at least they could pop in, say hey maybe a new post ya know. Again, not dissing anyone just my 2 cents worth.
Hey Sandy, hope you are doing well and the kids are good.
All you snow people, we "may" get a dusting here in in Central Cali on Sat. morning! We shall see though.
    Have a happy Thursday all

    ReplyDelete
  100. SS and Suz, the kids are doing fine. C is starting the struggle a bit in school but it always happens second semester. She's taking piano lessons and just loves it. B is in karate and will be starting t-ball this April.

I'm hanging in there. I've been volunteering at the kids' school and am a chair on one of the committees.

My dad has a few medical scares but he is home and doing well.

We are supposed to get more snow here tonight. All of our blizzard snow has melted; I guess just to make room for more. So done with snow and winter. I've got the winter blahs but they are passing. I've gotten a couple of gardening magazines and I am enlarging the veggie garden this year.

I miss everyone here too and I'll try to pop in more often.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hey Sandy, glad the kids are doing well. Sorry to hear your dad as had some ups and downs. Hope he is on the mend and no more problems.
SC, have not seen your face around here in a bit, hope you are doing ok.
Wishing everyone a happy Friday and a good weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hey Suz!

We got snow last night, ick. However it has promptly melted. Yay. Maybe I need to put the pasties on and rev up the Old John Deere to lure SC out of her hidey hole, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Whoo Hooo Sandy!! That ought to do it! lol!
We have rain today, I really don't think we will get snow here but they are still saying maybe a few flurries in the morning..between 4:00 am and 4:07 am..lol No, really they say maybe some time in the late morning..who knows.
Glad your snow melted already, I know you snow bound ladies are done with it!
I am excited for you expanding your garden. I would like to have more than just a corner but that is better than nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Sandy...Bring it! That just might work. Poor Sc has had a rough winter...she could use some pastie wearing sunshine:)
Hope things with C and school smooth out, and glad that B and your dad are doing well. I am over the snow also...you must be near me as our blizzard snow melted too...then it snowed again on Sunday and Tuesday and last night...ugh! Possible 48 degrees for next Friday, I might be in shorts...HA!

Suz-hope you have had a fabulous day...hugs, my friend!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Guess who has internet back?

Any takers? 100 points to the first correct guesser!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Um. Jeanette??? Lol what do I win??? :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. Jeanette....since I am the only one here I am guessing YOU! Welcome back, we missed you.

I hope all you ladies are ready for the week-end. I am leaving at 5:30AM for my 12 hour drive to New England to see my cute little grands. Cameron is talking a 'blue streak' and climbing on everything. I think his mother is getting gray hair..lol!

I hope to be able to log on while I am gone, but one never knows if I will have access or time. If not, I will be back around March 6th.

Have a good week-end. It is so great to see that a few of us are back on this blog!

    in my maiden name

    which i haven't used for 8 years...

    what's inside...

    ReplyDelete
  111. SC...Hmmmmmm...very interesting. An old boyfriend returning pictures?? I only say this because I did that...I am outta guesses. BTW, glad to see your stripey-assed Svedka drinking, pastie swinging, John Deere loving hiney here again! :)

Jeanette- Whoo-hoo...the internet is back up, please hang with us now. How is your gram and kiddo's doing?? Hopefully everyone is well!

    ReplyDelete
  112. ((shaka shaka shaka))
i'd say i was shaking my pasties... but their more like knee pads...

I asked mema to open the package and she says it's a 1/4 scale dollhouse and furniture set from Georgia... no note or clues in box.
    just freaky...

I am puppysitting tonight. .. really drives home that i am SOOOOOOOooooo not ready for a new puppy. If i have to say "calm down" or "no treats" one more time to my kidlets i may actually build an igloo outside oughta empty svedka bottles and ice.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Happy Saturday!! Hope everyone is good.
    SC, Shake those...knee pads! lol
The doll house sounds kind of cool, but yeah, weird.
Ah puppy sitting. We decided no more puppies for now. Sparky is 6 and is finally not a pain in the ass chewing everything! Not ready to walk to down the puppy road either.
SS hope you are having a good Saturday.
Off to finish my laundry and kick back :p

    ReplyDelete
  114. Sorry to post and run girls. I ran errands all day and got back late. I'm already in bed (posting on my new Evo :) I will respond to everyone on a new post in the morning. Good night!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Happy Sunday !
woke up to "new fallen snow"... ((insert massive explatives here))

Traveling to friend's house today for pampered chef party... should be fun. But just don't have the energy right now. I think the lack of sleep (caused by having a screaming puppy downstairs and a scared ass kitty jammed in my face all night.)
    Boy i hated puppydom.
is it sad that we got 'paid' for puppy sitting in svedka... no lie... lol.

Hope everyone is warm and toasty... gonna be close to the fifty's this week. But i'll believe it when i see it!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I didn't forget to put up a post girls, we had thunderstorms all day here and my internet is being weird. If I still can't get on Blogger in the morning I will try to put up a post using my phone. Something will get up!
It's weird because I can get on Facebook but can't do anything that runs flash.::shrug:: I'm sure it'll be ok tomorrow.

Hope everyone is staying safe in this weather.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Just checking in. Had to hijack someone's internet access to check on you ladies. I got to New England on Saturday evening and woke up Sunday morning to about 5 inches of snow...crap!
Right now it is raining in buckets, which is good it will melt the darn snow, but the wind is blowing so I am staying indoors.

Hope everyone is well and happy and that you all had a great week-end. Will hopefully be able to check in again in a day or so...maybe we will have a new post (thank you Jeanette).

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hello lovelies!!

Keli~glad you made it safely, stay warm and keep hugging on those babies!:)

Jeanette- Yehaw!! A new post..."don't call it a comeback" LOL! I am happy to see your little face poking in:) How is Shana?? Send her a hug for me..please!

Stripey- Payment in Svedka, eh? Need a partner in crime?? Hopefully the snow is starting to go away and you are feeling a little less like a caged animal. Hugs, girl!

Suz- Hope your weekend was fab and if the sun is shining, soak it up for us ass freezers...k?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Ass freezers!?! Love it. I got a few minutes before Mr. B gets of the bus.

Happy last day of February! I hate this month. For me it's the longest month for some reason. Weird I know but I never claimed to be normal.

    ReplyDelete
  120. SS, HaHa!! ass freezers, gonna keep that one along with ass hat! You crack me up!
No snow for us on Saturday, just cold. Still cold but clear and sunny day.
Hi Sandy! Well March is just around the corner so you can be glad Feb is over. Maybe March feels closer to spring, no more snow for you ass freezers! lol :P
SC, hope you have recovered from your puppy sitting.
Hey Keli, glad you checked in, enjoy your visit.
Jeanette, hope you are good today, we will look forward to a new post when you get to it and blogger isn't being a pain in the butt :)

    ReplyDelete
  121. I still can't access Blogger, and its starting to piss me off. I did text Ghana tho and she is going to put a new one up as soon as she gets online.

    Raining buckets here...ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Good Morning ladies!

Rain rain rain all day yesterday... and today sunny and FRA.E.zing. Smiling bastards said we'd be in the 50's...Really surprised some days they don't get whomped...

Hi Sandy! i'm with you... had it with February. Sad part is my phone says its Feb 29th today... just won't let it go.

Sorry it's so cold here Keli... hopefully by wed it will be warmer.

So my little girl is now having a hard time going to school. She freaks out when we get to the classroom door. Says she's afraid i'm gonna get into another accident. and that she just wants to stay with mama. I actually had to ask the teacher to hold her arm while i walked away today. heart breaking. She wasn't crying but kept wanting to hide behind me... I've explained so many times that mama's safe and grandma's watching out for us... but this new batch of parenthood stuff has me sad.
i just wanted to scoop her up and run from the school... but i know in my head she has to go... saying no to cupcakes is easier...

well, off to go paint some furniture... scored a beautiful chair off craigs this weekend for my little bathroom.

    Have a beautiful day!

    ReplyDelete
  123. SC, Aw...poor girl..A lot to process for a little one. Hopefully it will begin to get easier for her. Have fun painting, as always post pictures :P
We are sunny today with rain tomorrow and Thursday.
Hope all our Mid West and Ohio friends are ok. Lots of nasty weather in your area. Be safe!
    Happy Tuesday!!

    ReplyDelete
  124. SC- I know how your daughter feels. My mom got really sick when I was in middle school. She would have bad leg spasms and fall down and one day while I was at school, she fell and couldn't get up. She laid there until I got home. After that, I was so afraid something would happen to her that I refused to leave her. She tried to make me go to school but I refused and she couldn't overpower me. She said if I don't go I wouldn't be allowed out of my room and I said that was fine, I would still be able to hear her if she needed me. This went on until the truancy officer threatened to take me to a group home. I know I was a lot older than your daughter is, but the sentiment is the same, she wants to protect her mommy. My advice would be to spend a day with her, and go do something that requires driving quite a bit. Hopefully she will see that accidents are accidents and not something that will happen every day. I'm sorry she is having such a rough time.

The storm is over so when I get home tonight I will give Blogger another go. I did have to bring my grandma to the hospital today so I'm not sure when I will get back. Maybe I'll give it a go on my phone on a bit.
