9/11

  1. I was in a person-centered planning meeting when the first two planes struck...It is surreal to be here 9 years later and realize that we have spent all these year at war against terror and the person most responsible is still roaming around...many prayers for those who lost their lives on this day and for those fighting to bring justice as well as the families of all.

  2. I was sitting in Mr. Roach's history class. It was a new school and all the classrooms had phones and televisions. Mr. Phelps, the Current Events teacher, called Mr. Roach and told him to turn on CNN. This was right after they started airing, and as we sat there wondering what was going on, the second plane flew in. I'll never forget Mr. Roach, he pretty much fell into his chair and said... We are going to war.

And as SS said, here we are, 9 years later... and so many Americans have died, but Osama Bin Laden is still out there.

If anyone here has family or friends in the military, please thank them for what they are doing, from all of us here at Fellowship.

  3. I blogged about 9/11, but it's pretty much the same stuff I already posted here...

I'm off for awhile, the Bucks are playing and during half time I gotta run to the store for trash bags and toilet paper. I live the life of glamour, try not to be jealous.

  4. On 9/11/01 I had just traveled from Boston to NC the night before to celebrate the 11th Birthday of my granddaughter that had had a heart/lung transplant on June 15th. I was staying with my daughter, who was living in the house where I now live, and I turned on Good Morning America just in time to hear that a plane had hit the first tower. While I was standing there watching the updates I saw the second plane hit the other tower. About 2 hours later I got a call from my office in Boston telling me at co-worker had been on the second plane. About 6 hours later I was notified that one of my former employees was on the 96th floor of the first tower (he did not survive). I think 2001 was the most emotional year I have ever had with the transplant and the attacks. I remember renting a car to drive back to Boston and how moved I was by the courtesy of all the drivers on the roads and the flags flying on every freeway overpass. There were National Guard at every large bridge. An event in our history that I hope everyone remembers for a lifetime, I know that I will. My oldest son had spent 10 years in the military, and I felt fear that he would be called back, but that did not happen, not sure I could have handled any more stress that year.

  7. Happy Birthday Tracy and Michelle, I miss you girls too!♥

Being on the West Coast, information to us about 9/11 came in more after the fact.It was only 5 something in the morning out here when the first tower was hit. I was getting ready for work when my mom called and said we have been hit. I did not know what she meant at first, I thought she meant my mom and dad personally. Then she told me to turn on the tv. The images were searing and so surreal. I could not grasp it all. I have a cousin who lives in NYC and I was concerned for him but he was out of the City that week.
I work near the airport and am used to hearing the planes take off. It was unsettling the days after when air travel was suspended to only see and hear the F18's taking off. (we have an Air National Guard Base here)
Keli, I did not know anyone or have any connection to anyone who lost their lives. I can not begin to imagine how hard that must have been.

Hope eveyone is having a good day! I am going to go and try to make jalepeno jelly.
